Code & Research Committee
The Code and Research Committee works with others in the industry to develop safe codes and standards for stairways with regard for the aesthetic properties and design characteristics that make the staircase a visual and fundamental architectural element.
The Education Committee develops the stair industry by providing educational opportunities for SMA members, their customers, architects, designers, builders and building officials that promote the construction of safe, beautiful, code compliant stairways.
Marketing - Membership Committee
The Marketing-Membership Committee promotes the SMA organization, its programs and benefits to affect an increased awareness of the value of our members to the Stair Industry among the general public, the building community, and potential members. Membership development is fostered by evaluation of member needs and recommending or implementing solutions that add value to SMA membership and participation.
Quality Standards Committee
To establish a system of standards that can integrate well with engineering requirements and establish best practices supporting SMA certification of stairways.
The Governance Committee seeks out qualified candidates for the SMA Board of Directors and promotes member involvement at the committee level to nurture the growth of our future leaders.
The Executive Committee is comprised of the elected corporate officer/directors from the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. Subject to the direction of the Board their work facilitates the administration of the association.
